DescriptionThe Principal SQA Engineer provides technical leadership to the SQA team, driving the creation of team process and infrastructure, and overseeing the most complex technical projects that the team undertakes.
This individual is also responsible for working with sales, marketing, engineering, senior management and customers to identify and replicate in-house configurations and environments in which our products are sold.
Accountability/Scope (range of responsibilities):
This individual reports to an SQA Manager or Director. This individual is accountable to understand our product deliverables and the product life cycle, to assess and communicate plans, status and decisions to a broad range of company personnel, and make appropriate assessments about how best to move projects forward. . This person must be self-motivated and self-directed and take a positive approach to working in a team environment.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
Formalize SQA processes, monitor their effectiveness, and adjust them as needed.
Initiate and maintain feedback loops to ensure continuous improvement of team deliverables.
Serve on engineering teams, leading and participating in the engineering process. Leading projects to implement, test and document software in accordance with existing engineering guidelines.
Provide support and guidance (expert resource) for other engineers, technical support, sales, marketing and senior management.
Keep track of industry activities and participate in standards or industry-wide activities.
Create and implement testing processes and procedures; review testing processes and procedures developed and/or implemented by other engineering teams.

Linux and Windows experience
Very strong problem solving skills
Detail-oriented
Ability to plan, organize and delegate engineering projects
Working knowledge of at least one RDBMS, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or Sybase
Knowledge of database and operating systems internals preferred
Programming and/or scripting experience preferred
Experience with highly parallelized systems preferred
Experience with performance analysis and tuning preferred
Desired Job Experience:
8+ years of experience in field (SQA, Application Development, DBA).
5+ years of direct experience developing and implementing automated test procedures and infrastructure.
Demonstrated expertise in the use and implementation of QA automation tools, as well as a proven understanding of formal QA practices and procedures.
Experience helping form a highly talented and scalable team
Desired Education:
BS in Computer Science or equivalent. Masters preferred
