Description
We have been retained by a client to conduct an exclusive search to help our client grow their product development team. These developers are tasked with building an appliance based application suite that dramatically simplifies the way Fortune 2000 customers manage complex IT infrastructures.
The client has been recognized as one of the top companies to watch by Network Computing, been recognized as part of the Red Herring 100, and as one of the Fierce 15 in top emerging companies in IP Telephony. They have an exceptional management team and have been growing at greater than 2X previous years revenue growth for the past 3 years.
The user experience is a highly interactive Rich Internet Application implemented with JavaScript/JSON, Flash, Flex and HTML. The server side is Linux / MySQL with a Ruby on Rails framework served up by Apache / Passenger. The backend consists of numerous Perl-based engines that collect, model and analyze network data and automate network operations. The development methodology centers around Agile Scrum, using lightweight processes focused on delivering tangible results quickly and often.
Job Overview:
They are seeking a Browser Application Developer to help drive this effort. If you love software design and development, but dont want to be pigeonholed, dont worry. In a typical day you will use skills in a variety of different areas and learn some new ones as well.
This person sees perfecting the user experience as an art form and pushes the limits of browser technology. If this sounds like your kind of fun (the kind that you get paid for, at least) and you have the desire to take on new challenges, our client provides an excellent opportunity in a terrific environment.
What background do I need to be considered here?
Strong track record of success that would include a minimum of 6 years of current software development experience, to include solid experience developing Rich Internet Applications / Browser Application Development with JavaScript and Frameworks like extJS, script.aculo.us, sproutcore or prototype
Bright and Passionate about your craft(cant over emphasize this in importance)
Collegial and collaborative mind set, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills
Able to relocate to the Annapolis, MD area, or be commutable to this office several days per week

Development experience, to include modern, web application frameworks such as Rails or Django
Experience developing large, complex web applications under Linux with a deep understanding of the Linux environment
Experience developing applications that use SQL databases extensively
Developing, testing and supporting complex commercial software PRODUCTS Domain expertise with developing software in a networking environment (TCP/IP, SNMP
Experience with Agile Software Development with Scrum
Experience building customized tools for use in a networked environment, especially if used for network or enterprise management
Hands-on experience with IP networking and equipment (e.g. routers, switches, load balancers, VPN gateways, VoIP)
Development experience with one or more of network programming, SNMP, Linux, kernel internals, distributed systems, and information retrieval, data analysis, AJAX, web user interfaces, web services and visualization
